Election FAQ's

Coaldale Municipal Elections

Municipal elections in Coaldale come with several key dates and multiple options for casting your ballot. In a general election, residents vote to fill six councillor positions and one mayoral position.

Unlike many larger municipalities, Coaldale does not use a ward system. All candidates run at large, meaning the six councillor candidates with the most votes are elected, along with the mayoral candidate who receives the most votes.

Did you know? When voting for councillors, you don’t have to select six candidates—you can vote for as many or as few as you like, as long as you don’t exceed six.
